Why experience Nia?

Looking for an enjoyable way to stay fit ?

Nia is a non-impact physical conditioning program. The Nia Technique was founded in 1983 by Debbie Rosas and Carlos AyaRosas in the San Francisco area. Nia combines martial arts and dance arts in a workout set to music. Through a barefoot movement class, students learn to move more naturally, explore the movement potential of the body, and get fit without pain.
Nia sessions are an hour long. The classes use music compilations which are intended to guide the body to heal through movement. The music comes from many different styles including electronica, reggae, jazz, and hip hop. Nia uses 52 basic moves which borrow from martial arts such as Tae Kwon Do, t'ai chi, Aikido, and also from Modern dance, Duncan Dance, The Alexander Technique and yoga. Every class offers a unique combination of 52 moves that correspond with the main areas of the body: the base, the core and the upper extremities.
